Rashtriya Poshan Maah begins in various parts of Nagaland
Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): In view of declaration that September would be celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah or National Nutrition Month across India, ICDS Noklak Project under the department of Social Welfare conducted a short programme on September 7 at CDPO Office, Noklak with the theme ‘Complementary Feeding’.
Speaking at the programme, Senior Supervisor P Hemping of CDPO office Noklak said that the purpose of celebrating the national nutrition month is to take the message of nutrition to every nook and corner of the country, an update from DIPR informed.
“Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022 which is a PM’s overarching scheme for holistic nourishment,” he said.
‘Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan aims at ensuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for the children in the Age group 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers and adolescent girls. Malnutrition effect on all sections of the society both poor and the affluent families due to lack of awareness and its objectives are to achieve improvement in the nutritional status of the targeted groups. The month-long campaign will be culminated on 30th September 2020,’ he added.
The programme was attended by Anganwadi workers of Noklak Project and civil societies.
Poshan Maah in Peren
The Nutrition Month 2020 was launched in Peren at a short programme on September 7 in the DC conference Hall, district headquarters, New Peren, with the line department of PHE department, Medical department, RD department, Education department and administration.
Organised by the department of Social Welfare, Peren, the event was chaired by the deputy director, Nokcharenla, DPO Peren who briefed the activities and programmes to be taken up in the month at various level in the district and urged all the line departments for co-ordination and active participation, informed an update from DIPR.
The deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, also said that National Nutrition Month is a good programme initiated by the prime minister of India to prevent existing malnutrition in India and to identify any prevailing cases in the district. He urged the nodal department to identify the indicators to progress and work where more approach is needed.
He also apprised the line department to work and co-ordinate for the welfare of the district during the Poshan Maah.
The launch of Poshan Maah began by reading out the poshan pledge while vote of thanks was delivered by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing.
Medziphema
The month-long Poshan Maah celebration from September 1 to the 30th was launched at the Conference Hall of ADC office in Medziphema on September 7 with SDO Civil Medziphema, Tokai V Sumi as special guest.
An update from DIPR informed that Sumi spoke about good health and nutrition as well as encouraged proper implementation of the government schemes for the welfare of the public.
CDPO, Medziphema and ICDS project in-charge Tsungrosongla administrated the Poshan pledge and also briefed on the objectives of Poshan Abhiyaan with regard to reducing stunting and wasting in children and ensuring proper development, adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children, removing anaemia among young children, women and adolescent girls, reducing low birth weight through proper nutrition and social and behavioural changes by building a people’s movement.
Longleng
Poshan Maah launching programme for Longleng district was held at EBRC hall in Longleng on September 7, with D Robin, ADC Longleng, as special guest.
The ADC led the gathering in reading out the Poshan pledge, while T Longlang, CDPO Longleng, delivered a brief note on the poshan maah and Dr. Philip Khing, Dy CMO Longleng, briefed on prevention of anaemia among woman and adolescent girls, informed an update from DIPR.
The programme was chaired by Longhong district co-ordinator poshan maah.
