Rapist sentenced to life imprisonment

Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): Principal district and session judge, Dimapur, Neiko Kanuo, has convicted one accused person identified as Pintu Hasam under U/S 302/376 (2 ((i)/ IPC and section 6 POCSO and sentenced him to go rigorous imprisonment for life, which means imprisonment till his natural death on May 24 in Sub-urban police station Case No.39/2014 (GR-512/14).
The accused committed the offence of rape and murder of one minor girl aged nine years old at Amaluma village in Dimapur on September 14, 2014. The prosecution case was conducted by public prosecutor Dimapur, T Marlemba, who even demanded capital punishment to the accused. The case of rape and murder was proved beyond any shadow of doubt by the prosecution.
While pronouncing the judgment and order in his open court, the judge stated that, considering the enormity of crime committed by the accused for such penetrative sexual assault and murder of a minor girl, was against the dignity and respect to humanity and to the victim in particular. As such, he stated the accused deserves no mercy at all and guilty have to be met with befitting punishment to ensure that justice is delivered to the victim. The judge also recommended INR 3 lakhs compensation for the parents of the victim U/S 357 A CrPC.
