DIMAPUR — Nagaland made a strong comeback after a poor start to post 342 in their first innings against Arunachal Pradesh on day 2 of their Ranji Trophy match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima.

According to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association, on day 1, Nagaland faced an early setback, losing 2 wickets for just 28 runs, trailing by 98 runs.

However, they staged a remarkable comeback, with notable contributions from Sedezhalie Rupreo (53 runs), Tahmeed Rahman (23 runs), Khrievitso Kense (19 runs), Jaganath (19 runs), and Jonathan (18 runs).

Sumit Kumar emerged as the top performer, showcasing his batting prowess with an impressive 158 runs off 179 balls. This collective effort led Nagaland to amass the total in 81.2 overs, although they lost all wickets in the process.

Shekar Sihori showcased a stellar performance, securing a 3-wicket haul and emerging as the top performer for the Arunachal bowling unit.

Due to bad lighting conditions, the play on the second day had to be called off.

At stumps, Dorin was at the crease with an unbeaten score of 21 runs, while Kumar Nyompu was also not out, batting on 8 runs. Arunachal is trailing by 188 runs.

On Day 3, Nagaland will be aiming to dismiss the Arunachal side cheaply, seeking to secure bonus points. Also, they will closely monitor the Meghalaya versus Sikkim match at SICA Ground in Sikkim.

The outcome of that match holds significant importance for Nagaland, as their chances of qualifying for the playoffs depend on it.
