DIMAPUR — Nagaland’s batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards, as Meghalaya bowled the visitors out for a paltry 72 runs in 23.4 overs, on the first day of the 4-day Test match (senior men) played at MCA Ground Polo Ground, Shillong.

Choosing to field first after winning the toss, Meghalaya took advantage of the morning conditions to taunt Nagaland, helped by Akash Kumar’s impressive 7-wicket haul in 11 overs, according to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA).

In their 1st innings, Meghalaya too had a shaky start as Karan Tewatiya and Jaganath Sinivas (2 wickets apiece) removed their four top order batsmen but made a recovery with Kishan scoring 58 runs and Swarajeet Das 63.

At stumps, Meghalaya had 196 runs on the board for loss of 7 wickets, with Jaskirat batting on 18 runs and Dippu 2 runs, taking a lead of 124 runs over Nagaland on day 1.

Tahmeed Rahman provided the much-needed breakthrough for Nagaland, taking three wickets including Kishan and Swarajeet Das who were looking dangerous at the crease.

Meghalaya will look forward to add more runs on the board as they resume batting.
