Random Covid-19 test to be done in Dimapur
Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan on Friday said that random testing for Covid-19 would be conducted at pre-decided places as per the directives of the government besides stepping up vigilance at the city’s airport.
The DC said this at the joint meeting of Dimapur District Task Force for Covid-19 and District Task Force for Covid-19 vaccination at his office on Friday, according to an update by DPRO Dimapur.
Stressing on the need to be prepared for resurgence of Covid-19 in Dimapur district amid second wave prevalent in many states across the country, Soundararajan told the House that screening of returnees would commence at the airport and the travellers have to produce Covid-19 negative test report on arrival.
Through a separate update, the district administration informed that thermal screening will be conducted on all passengers at Dimapur Airport; check if they have negative report of Covid test; if they have completed vaccination and other details and requirements specified in the revised SOPs.
It added that special attention will be given to people coming from any of the 11 states — Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi – that have recorded high cases and details of such persons be immediately shared with the respective DTFs for further procedures.
The CMO of Dimapur, Dr. Mereninla, lamented on the rise in complacency amongst the public and requested all the members attending the meeting to create awareness.
