'Rally of Phek': Open road bicycle rally kicks off

DIMAPUR — The open road bicycle rally, in commemoration of 50 years of Phek district, was flagged off on Saturday at Glory Peak, Pfutsero, by Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA, on the theme 'Rally of Phek'.

Dr. Mero, in his address, said that the cyclists will be travelling 50 km between Pfutsero and Phek, coinciding with 50 years of Phek district celebration, a DIPR report stated.

He said he was thrilled to see many young cyclists from the state competing with other cyclists, including national medal winners, from other parts of the country.

The MLA also stressed on the need to promote cycling as a sport in Nagaland as cycling is 100 percent eco-friendly. He further affirmed that Pfutsero is one of the best spots to promote tourism industry, and called upon the Tourism department to take up more projects in the area.
