Rally marks Dr. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary

In commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, a youth convention and rally for national unity was held at TM Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima town on March 31. Rev. Fr and Dr. AJ Sebastian, was the chief guest of the event.
The chief guest addressed a short function that was conducted to mark the day. “We have many tribes in Nagaland, we should not fight among ourselves, and instead we should together build peace in our land.” He urged the participants to encourage one another for better relationship by doing away tribalism to have a better place to live.
Delivering the keynote address, Zonal Director of NYKS, Jackie Ruivah, said the commemoration was meant to facilitate the people in general and youth in particular to come together and live together, to generate caste free society, to fight against social evils and to foster the feeling of brotherhood and National unity.
Stating that Government of India has decided to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar by organizing different types of programs and activities across the country, he informed that NYKS has been entrusted with the responsibility to commemorate the birth anniversary in 105 districts across the country, to be financially supported by the Dr. Ambedkar foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
A peace walk rally was flag-off by the chief guest, Rev. Fr and Dr. AJ Sebastian, at TMGHSS and culminated at Khouchiezie (local ground). The welcome address was delivered by DYC NYKS, Kohima, John Makhabo and Principal of TMGHSS also exhorted the participants. Altogether around 250 students from TMGHSS participated in the rally.
