Rally against murder of student at Bhandari

MORE than 2000 student volunteers and various civil society members participated in a protest rally in Bhandari town local ground against gruesome murder of a student of the town Gloria Ezung between Bhandari and Merapani road when she was on her way to school in uniform on September 11. Gloria was a student of GHSS Bhandari.
The rally was organized by Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) on September 16. The rallyists displayed placards such as “Don’t kill innocent student”, “We demand justice”, We want peace and love”, “Students are to be respected but not to be kill”, “Justice must be delivered”, “Award capital punishment to the crime accused” etc. The rallyists also observed two minutes silence for the departed soul.
At the rally, speakers from various organisations condemned the gruesome murder of the innocent student.
The KSU has also submitted representation to Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari Sub-Division to immediately constitute/set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the gruesome murder.
In his address, KSU president Amos Odyuo expressed deep pain and sorrow over the gruesome murder. Stating that the barbaric and heinous murder was pre-planned, he cautioned that if the efficient and effective investigation is not conducted to probe the offence and award befitting punishment to those involved in committing the crime, the life and security of innocent citizens will be at serious threat.
“Such barbaric and satanic crime made to students’ must be condemned by one and all, when Nagas are struggling to foster unity and bring love and peace in the society,” Odyuo said.
The KSU has also urged all the concerned citizens to cooperate with the investigating agency during the process of investigation. As the guardian to protect the rights and interest of the student community in the district, the union said it will not shy away from its duty until justice is delivered.
Kyong Eloe Hoho general secretary Nzano Kikon said killing of an innocent girl in school uniform while she was going to her attend her is a real barbaric act. Condemned the murderer’s wicked act, Kikon said females being treated in this way is really hard to accept.
“Therefore, we urge the law enforcing authority to book the culprit who is not worth to be in a peace loving society,” she stated.
Principal of GHSS Bhandari urged the village council authority to provide transportation to the students as it is a very hard and insecure to walk on foot for 5/6 kms to get educated.
Kyong Lower Range Students Union (KLRSU) president, Wokha Town Longsa Hoho, Longsa Village Council, Dimapur Longsa Youth Oganisation, GBs Union Bhandari Town, Eloe Hoho Bhandari Town and Wokha Cicrle Students’ Union also spoke at the rally and vehemently condemned the murder.
