Rajnath assures integrity of Manipur

Imphal, Feb 19: Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajnath Singh today reiterated that territorial integrity of the Manipur will not be affected at any cost. Union Minister Rajnath was addressing an intellectual meet after releasing BJP Manipur vision document in Imphal this afternoon. He also made similar statement in the elections rallies held at Thangmeiband athletic union ground in Imphal. Regarding the ongoing economic blockade on National highways connecting Manipur, the Home Minister who attended the intellectual meet along with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Assam Finance Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national leaders Ram Madhav, Pralhad Patel and BJP Manipur Pradesh President Kh Bhabananda and party leaders, informed that the central government have tried to resolve the blockade issue by holding mutual dialogue involving concerned parties besides providing enough security forces. He however said no solution could be arrived at. India with federal structure, he said law and order is a state subject. He also alleged of ‘political conspiracy’ by Congress government behind the blockade. People of Manipur is experiencing difficulties due to indefinite economic blockade on Manipur sector of National Highways 2 and 37 by United Naga Council since November 1 midnight last year in protest against the creation of Sadar Hills and Jiribam into full fledged districts, saying it affects the interest of the Nagas. However, the state government said the districts are created for the administrative conveniences. The former BJP President also appealed encouraging healthy politics instead of unhealthy ones in elections saying elections should be played on issues such as good governance, corruption and development etc.
