Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): The Raj Bhavan Kohima family accorded a ceremonial farewell to outgoing Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya and his wife Kavita at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on July 24.
Acharya, who served as the governor of Nagaland for five years (since 2014) in now the governor of Manipur. Meanwhile, the government of India has appointed RN Ravi, the interlocutor for Indo-Naga peace talks, as the new governor of Nagaland.
The outgoing Governor expressed his gratitude to his officers, staff and security personal at the Raj Bhavan Kohima for supporting and making his stay a comfortable one during the past five years in the state, an update from PRO to Governor said. Stating that people working in Raj Bhavan had an added advantage, he encouraged his officers and staff to make use of their position in a positive way by strengthening the society.
He also expressed his desire for a “developed and established Nagaland” and called on the gathering to achieve that goal by playing their respective roles efficiently. Unless Northeast develops, India will not develop, he added.
“I have enriched myself with knowledge, friendship and love during my tenure as the Governor of Nagaland and I thank you for all the love and support you all have shown me,” said Acharya.
Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, Dinesh Kumar, IAS stated that it was an honour and privilege for all to work with Acharya. He added that the people’s Governor will be remembered for his love and concern for Nagaland and its people.
Dinesh stated that the governor took up many programmes that benefited the people of the State during the last five years. He also expressed confidence that the outgoing Governor and his wife will always cherish their stay at Raj Bhavan Kohima.
Several officers, including joint secretary to governor SK Sahoo and George Abraham; ADC to Governor Sqn Ldr Vikas Ramola; and caretaker Raj Bhavan Vizolazau Yhome Kuotsu spoke during the farewell programme.
