DIMAPUR — Heavy rains coupled with strong winds which lashed Dimapur on August 18 evening, damaged more than ten feeders resulting in power outage in many parts of the city.
The rainstorm uprooted trees and damaged power cables and in some localities, the power outage lasted for 12 hours.
The linemen of the Power department in Dimapur were seen on duty late into the night, locating faulty lines, restoring feeders and clearing trees that were uprooted. The disrupted power lines which could not be detected the previous night were restored on Saturday morning.
According to source from the Power department, the feeders affected by the rainstorm included the 33 kV Metha colony, 11 kV Shuzkhu and Zani, 11kV Dobagaon, 11kV Referral and Naga United, 11kV Rongmei colony, 11kV Padum Pukhuri, 11 kV Landmark colony and 11kV Highway feeder.
The Thilixu-1 feeder (high tension pole) was also damaged by the storm but later restored.
Kuda village, Akuvuto, Dairy Farm and Supermarket feeders were also affected by the storm.
