Rains trigger landslides along Kohima-Bokajan road

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27: Following heavy torrential rains from July 1-10, the entire stretch of road between Kohima – Bokajan NEC via Ghotovi village has been affected by massive landslide at many locations. A joint press release issued by Head GB of Yankeli village, Nzanbemo Humtsoe, Head GB of Logwesunyu village and Head GB of Ghotovi village have claimed that 150 households in Logwesunyu village under Tseminyu sub-division and 120 households in Yankeli village under Wokha district have been affected by the landslides. It further stated that 200 households in Tsosinyu village under Tseminyu sub-division have cut off from the rest of the district as a result of which the mentioned villages were facing short supply of essential commodities and medical aids. The joint statement said the road is the only lifeline for the affected villages. In the light of the above stated development, the signatories, on behalf of the affected villages, have appealed the concerned department to clear the landslides.
