Rainfall predicted in NE states

Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, June 6: Several north-eastern states—Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur— may start receiving moderate to heavy rains and it is expected to continue until the onset of southwest monsoon. According to an update from Skymet Weather, the pre-monsoon showers are active, as southerly winds are blowing towards the region from Bay of Bengal. Moreover, conditions are becoming favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon in the coming days. At present, a cyclonic circulation lies over east Assam. An east-west trough is also moving across Meghalaya, Assam and towards Arunachal Pradesh. A weekly weather update informed that the intensity of the rain would increase June 7 onwards from light to moderate rain. During this time, one or two heavy spells of rain are also expected and the activities will continue till June 9 or 10. According to the update, Mokokchung may witness light rain with cloudy sky throughout this week. Maximum temperature will settle between 29°-36°C while minimums will range between 23°-24°C. Mon may see rains throughout the week with maximum temperature expected at 31°C and minimum around 26°C. Similar rainfall pattern will be seen in Longleng with maximums between 30°-36°C where as minimum will be around 25°C. Kiphire may witness mix of cloudy and partly cloudy sky along with rain. Maximums will range between 24°-26°C and minimums, 19°-21°. Dimapur may witness cloudy to partly-cloudy sky with spells of rain, and maximums will be 35°-37° while minimum will be at 25°C. Kohima too may witness similar pattern till June 10 with maximum temperature of 35°C and minimums of 19°-22°C.
