Rainfall expected in Nagaland, other north-eastern states in next few days, says IMD

DIMAPUR — The north-east region is very likely to experience isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall on February 24 and the 25th, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

Attributing it to the prevailing jet stream winds in north-east India and the cyclonic circulation located over south Chhattisgarh and its surroundings, the IMD said that Arunachal Pradesh is likely to witness light to moderate rain at a few places, while Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura is very likely to experience light rain at isolated places on February 24.

In Nagaland, places in Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, and Zunheboto are very likely to experience scattered rain/thundershowers on Feb. 24, while isolated rain and thundershowers are forecasted in Kiphire, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang during the same period.

As per the IMD, Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto and Kiphire districts are likely to experience isolated rain and thundershowers on Feb. 25 as well, while dry weather is expected in Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang districts.

From Feb. 26 to the 29th, Nagaland is most likely to experience dry weather, the IMD added.
