Railway minister, board members hold video conference with general managers
Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Minister of State of Railway Suresh C Angadi, Railway Board Chairman and members held a video conference with general managers of zonal railways, production units and divisional railway managers.
During the conference, the members review the performance of the Railway including safety, punctuality, freight loading, passenger traffic, infrastructure projects, locomotive and coach production and other ongoing developmental projects in Indian Railways, an update from Chief from Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda informed.
Angadi lauded the efforts and performance of the zones and divisions, and further encouraged them to work towards further improvement in safety, punctuality, cleanliness and passenger comfort so as to meet the expectations of the people.
The minister of state urged the Indian Railways officials to work as a team for the development of the Railways in particular and the country as a whole.
Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav asked the general managers to monitor the projects related to ensuring safety in train operations.
He also emphasised on expeditious completion of safety works like elimination of manned level crossings and construction of road over bridge and road under bridges, interlocking of heavy manned level crossings, elimination of old mechanical signalling by electronic signalling and others.
Yadav applauded the officers for bringing significant improvement in punctuality of express trains which has reached a level of 74% compared to 67% last year. he also also complimented Railtel and divisions for providing free Wi-Fi for passengers over 4,926 stations.
NFR zones and divisions were directed to complete all preparations with regard to 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.
