R Kevichusa laid to rest

The funeral service of Razhukhrielie Kevichusa, who passed away on Aug.20, was held on Sunday at Kevichusa colony, Burma Camp in Dimapur.

R Kevichusa alias Khrielie Kevichusa passed away at the age of 80 leaving behind an indelible imprint on society.

Born on Oct. 21, 1941 in Tezpur to A Kevichusa and Mannie, he was trained as an Agriculture Engineer and was later inducted into the Indian Administrative Service serving the government of Nagaland in various capacities until his retirement in 2001. Following his retirement, he served as the chairman of the Nagaland Public Service Commission.

R Kevichusa was also a trained classical violinist, a composer and singer with a deep appreciation for music and mentored several children in the art of music.

A memorable and befitting service was held with a hoard of well wishers. Tributes in the form of speeches were given by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Bible society of India, and his children Bambi Kevichusa and Dr Kethoser Aniu Kevichusa among others. One of his compositions, Zion Tsaliu Dze was sung by members of the Union Baptist Church Kohima, of which he was a founding member. R Kevichusa leaves behind his wife Ethel, his children and grandchildren.
