Qhehoyi village inducts new GB

Qhehoyi village has inducted Kuhoi Zhimo as its Goan Bura (GB) today in the presence of representatives from Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), Western Sumi Totimi Hoho (WSTH), Aqahuto Area GBs’ Union (AAGBU), Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi, former MLA Azheto Zhimomi and host of invitees and villagers.Delivering his acceptance speech, Kuhoi Zhimo has attributed his induction as the plan of God which prompted the villagers to approach him to be their GB. He said it was the seer faith and believes of the villagers on his leadership which made them approach him to their GB.
He has assured to work for the villagers in particular and area people in general and not be swayed by greed to earn money or fame but to serve the people. He also assured to deliver the right justice. Kuhoi Zhimo is also the chairman of Dimapur Sumi Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP, Khekiho, has termed it as a significant day for the people of Aqahuto area in general and Qhehoyi village in particular. While congratulating the new GB, Khekiho has encouraged Kuhoi Zhimo to enable the villagers get blessings through his service.
President of WSKH Isaoto Zhimo, who also spoke on the occasion, said GB system holds an important place in Sumi custom. He said it is God who choose and planned for one to be the chieftain as not everyone can become GB. While welcoming the new GB, he urged the new GB to speak for the voiceless people.
Former MLA Azheto Zhimomi, president of Wester Sumi Hoho Hokiye Yeptho, chairman of Aqahuto Area GBs’ Union Phushito Aye were among other dignitaries who also spoke on the occasion. Qhehoyi village GB Ghonito Aye traditionally handed Red Shawl to the newly inducted GB while Rev. Dr. Shiwoto Assumi offered the dedicatory prayer.
It may be mentioned that Qhehoyi village, few kilometres short of Mhainamtsi village on Jalukie road, was established in the year 1982.
