PWD field workers’ association celebrate silver jubilee in Kohima

Kohima, Oct. 24 (EMN): The All Nagaland PWD Field Workers Association (ANPWDFWA) celebrated its silver jubilee at NPWD guest house with Tongpang Ozukum, minister NPWD, as the special guest.
Tongpang, while acknowledging the pioneers for steering the association thus far, reminded the members that they play a very important role and their continued contribution will determine upon the quality of roads in the state.

The minister said the PDA government has given top priority for the construction and maintenance of roads in the state as they believe roads are the vital link to determine and pave way for development and prosperity of the state. Therefore, the second phase of road maintenance and construction will commence from the month of November, he added.

He also said that he will visit every district and sub division next month to personally check the ongoing works and made known of his desire to meet and interact with all the field staffs that time. Tongpang also enlightened the members that INR 80-100 crores are spend from the state exchequer for work charge employees and already INR 94 crores have been already spent for this calendar year. He also made known that the department and the government will start to steam line the genuine from the bogus workers.

He also hope the public especially the village and colony councils will give their utmost support and cooperation at the ongoing road maintenance work between the Kohima-Dimapur stretch.

Reminding the Nagas fondness for forming unions and association- majority- for vested and personal interest, he asked the members to remain steadfast, pass and make positive resolutions to strengthen the association and thus make the jubilee more fruitful and meaningful.

The minister also shared the information about 87 work charge employees being regularised and 125 members whose regularisation order was on the process of being inducted in the NPWD department.

Earlier, Er. Krosü Rhetso, E-in-C, NPWD and B K Alum Chang, president, TDFWA exhorted the gathering and a short speech was delivered by Khevito Zhimo, former president ANPWDFWA.

Presidential address was delivered by K Atovi Awomi, president ANPWDFWA and a special song was presented by Virie Kuotsu. Khonbemo Ngullie, pastor, Assembly of God Lotha church invoked God’s blessing and Imkongchiba Jamir, Vice president, ANPWDFWA delivered the vote of thanks.
