PWC students undertake study tour

Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): Political Science and Education departments of Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC), Dimapur, organised a study tour for honours students to Majuli, the world largest river island in Assam, on May 2 and 3.

The team consisted of 42 students along with Nayan Basu, HoD of Education, and Anil Kr. Das, HoD of Political Science including a library peon, an update from the college stated. The team visited Kamalabari Satra, Dakhinpat Satra and Auniati Satra. The team also visited Chamaguri Satra which represented the famous Satra of Majuli and a chief centre of Vaishmavism in Assam. The Satra serves as a popular centre of art, culture and classical studies and is mainly known for its interesting mask crafts and art works etc.

Report stated that the study tour provided ample opportunities for students to learn, feel, exercise and reflect on the rich cultural heritage of Assam. It added that through various visits and meetings with members of reputed Satra, the students have improved their interpersonal and communication skills, team work, sense of responsibility, problem solving ability and decision making.
