PWA wrestling tournament from Jan. 15

Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) is all set to organise the 45th senior and 2nd U-16 wrestling tournament-cum-Sukrenye festival on the theme, ‘Defend till the end’ at local ground in Phek village on Jan. 15.

Thuputhiyi Venuh, president of PWA, informed that Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, will attend the tournament as the inaugural guest while Heipeiding Ilunglang, BDO, Phek Block will be the valedictory guest.

The best four wrestlers in the senior category will walk away with cash prizes of INR 30,000, INR 20,000, INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 with citation, while the best four wrestlers in U-16 category will receive cash prizes of INR 11, 000, INR 8,000, INR 6,000 and INR 4,000 with citations.

A clinical-cum-sensitisation camp was held on Friday at local ground with all the management officials and PWA executive council by the convenor of Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board (NWRB), he said.

In a significant outcome, the PWA in its business session unanimously decided to uphold all health protocol measures provided in the government SOPs and thereby urged all wrestlers to be the role model by engaging themselves in creating awareness to the community.

The house further agreed to carry out all activities of the tournament under the banner ‘Wrestle against the Covid-19’, thus, urging the Phekmi community to come and witness the mega event with all care for public health and safety.
