Village councils and business community of Purana Bazaar in Dimapur have decided not to give any ‘tax’ or “donation” to any organization “whatsoever” and that every member of the business community in the area should adhere to the decision taken by the community organizations.
A meeting between Purana Bazaar Village Council and members of the business community of Purana Bazaar was conducted in the village’s council hall on February 4 during which the decision against ‘taxes’ and ‘donations’ was taken. “It was resolved that the business community within the jurisdiction of Purana Bazaar Village would not give any kind of donation/tax to any organization whatsoever without the consent or knowledge of the village council and that every member of the business community would adhere to the resolution,” a copy of the resolutions received here on Wednesday from Purana Bazar’s local authorities informed.
Also, the members strongly reiterated its decision against allowing sale of liquor inside the jurisdiction of the village. “The council warned of stern action against those detected to be selling liquor,” the statement said.
The business community of the village also assured the village council to cooperate and support the efforts of the council in maintaining cleanliness in the commercial areas of the area.
Meanwhile, the village council has expressed appreciation to deputy commissioner of Dimapur for “personally visiting and inspecting the distribution of BPL rice by village council at Purana Bazaar.” This is the first time a deputy commissioner has visited an occasion of public distribution, the council remarked.
