Pughoboto to award highest harvesting village, farmer

Dimapur, Nov. 3 (EMN): Chairman of the Pughoboto sub-divisional planning and development board (SDPDP) MLA Y. Vikheho Swu has announced two awards to be given to a village and an individual for harvesting the highest quantity of paddy during the upcoming Thuwu- ni festival scheduled to be held on Nov. 15.
The chairman of the board, while speaking at the SDPDB meeting held at ADC office Pughoboto on Nov. 3, said that the 3-day Thuwu- ni festival is for the economic progress in different fields such as music, sports and indigenous items etc. He added that the most important feature of the festival is the linking of villages for economic growth in the division.

Saying that the two awards for the highest harvesting village and farmer during the mega event, Swu said that that he plans to add two more awards in the coming year viz. entrepreneur of the year award and best performing award for the village chairman and VDB secretary.

The MLA further informed that after the festival, a group of people will be sent on a Thuwu -ni tour to the meat production centre ,Guwahati in January so that he could fulfil his vision of a meat production centre at Pughoboto. Another group of people will also be sent to tour the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnog, Shillong, he said.

SDO (Civil) Tiayanger Jamir informed the board that the governor of Nagaland will also be attending the Thuwu- ni festival. EAC EAC Nuhuta highlighted about the clean Pughoboto committee and asked the officers who have not submitted the verification report to submit the same on or before Nov. 7.
Meanwhile, the board also agreed to conduct a ministerial staff training in the coming month.
