A training programme for Booth Level Officers and supervisors was conducted in Pughoboto for the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls.
DIMAPUR — A one-day training programme for booth-level officers (BLOs) and BLO supervisors was conducted at the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pughoboto, on July 17, in preparation for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026.
According to a DIPR report, the training aimed to equip election officials with the knowledge and procedures required to carry out a comprehensive revision of electoral rolls in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The programme commenced with the registration of participants, followed by an introductory session highlighting the significance of the SIR with reference to the qualifying date of October 1.
Addressing the participants, Additional Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer James T Khulu Tikhir stressed the importance of maintaining a clean, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll. He urged BLOs to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, impartiality, and diligence to ensure that every eligible citizen is enrolled while preventing the inclusion of ineligible persons.

The technical sessions were led by Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) and Electoral Registration Officer Yithachu Thur, along with Master Trainer Zuvito Tsuqua. They provided a detailed overview of the Special Intensive Revision process, its various phases, field verification procedures, documentation requirements, and the roles and responsibilities of BLOs.
Assistant Programmer at DEO Pughoboto, P Baulen Phom, familiarised the participants with the use of the BLO Application to facilitate efficient field operations and timely submission of electoral data.
During the training, officials highlighted the key objectives of the SIR, which include ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll, ensuring that no ineligible person is enrolled, and enhancing the accuracy and quality of voter data. Officials also outlined the SIR timeline for Nagaland, explaining the phased implementation of the revision exercise.
The training concluded with an interactive session where participants clarified operational procedures and discussed field-level challenges.
