Public told not to throw garbage into drainage

DIMAPUR — Advisor of Labour Employment and Skill Development, Excise and chairman of Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB), Moatoshi Longkumer, has asked all the officers in the district to spread the message not to throw garbage in the drainage and also take upon the responsibility to inculcate cleanliness to every individual. He has termed the recent flooding in Dimapur as man-made disaster caused by blocked drainages.

Longkumer stated this during the monthly DPDB meeting held on June 28 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Dimapur. He has requested the district administration and Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to depute a team for photographic evidences of the people throwing garbage into the drainage and also to undertake verification for listing the drainage encroachers and to serve notice to the defaulters for further legal action.

The chairman also appreciated the departments for undertaking plantation drive for beautification of Dimapur, a DIPR report stated.

It stated that the meeting deliberated on several agendas which included compulsory installation of CCTV cameras in all the shops and streets under Dimapur district.

With the rise in the number of stolen reports, the chairman requested all the departments to mandatorily install CCTV camera in their respective offices for the safety and protection of government properties. Towards this, the DC of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal informed the members that an order would be issued.

The members also discussed on removal of obsolete cable wires and telephone poles which destroy the outlook of the city. To this, the DC informed the house that the district administration had met the cable TV providers and also conducted field visit by SDO. He added that action would be initiated.

The house also approved to forward to the government for temporary shifting of DC office till the new office building is constructed and society registration of Chingthur Foundation located at Zeliangrongram Colony and Hutmen Charitable Society at Viola Colony. It also approved grant-in-aid to Lampstand Higher Secondary School in Toluvi village and relocation/ shifting of King David School from Nepali Bosti to Sector-3 Kushiabill.

The house further approved for up-gradation of schools including GMS Dimapur Town to Government High School at United Colony; GMS Padumpukhuri to Government High School; GPS Mishikito to Government Middle School, Stepping Stone School at Duncan Bosti and society registration of Immanuel College in Lingrijan.
