- IMPHAL — The
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in Manipur has issue ‘No water
supply’ notice since the last two weeks following lowering of water level in
rivers.
- The executive engineer of Thoubal PHED division on Saturday
informed the public that there would be no water supply in the area under the
jurisdiction of Lilong Arapti Water Supply scheme for the time due to lean
season and lowering of river water below the base level.
- The office also requested the public to bear with the office
till the situation
- improves. It further regretted for causing inconvenience in
its service to the public.

- On April 7, the executive engineer of water supply
maintenance division Number-II of the PHED informed the public that there would
be no water supply in the area under the jurisdiction of Ningthempukhri and
Canchipur water supply schemes due to lean season and lowering of river water
below the base level.
- “The office also requested the public to bear with the
office till the situation improves,” says the Directorate of Information and
Public Relations in a press release.
- It further expressed regret for causing inconvenience in its
service to the public.
- Similarly, the executive engineer of water supply
maintenance division number-II of the PHED on April 4, in a separate press
release, informed the public that there would be no water supply in the area
under the jurisdiction of Singjamei Ward Number 17 that is Singjamei Sapam
Leikai, Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai,Singjamei Oinam Leikai, Singjamei Okram
Leikai, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai and Khongang
Pheidekpi will not be able to supply water due to lean season and lowering of
river water below the base level.
- The office also requested the public to bear with the
department till the situation improves.
- Additionally, PHED informed that the Chinga water treatment
plant would be unable to supply water to the consumers under its jurisdiction
due to unavailability of raw water.
- Normal water supply would resume as soon as raw water is
available for treatment at the Chinga intake point, it added.
- Around 17 water supply plants in and around Imphal hardly
supply 70 million litre per day against its installed capacity of 101.3 million
litre per day. There are 3.5 lakh population in Imphal areas.

- Power shutdown: The Manipur State Power Distribution Company
Limited (MSPDCL) has announced a plan power shutdown on April 13 to facilitate
maintenance work. According to the deputy manager division No. II, a shutdown
of 33kv Sangaiprou line has been scheduled from 11 am to 1 pm for the erection
of a 9 metre STP for the Tera feeder.
- As a result, consumers in parts of Keishampat, Sagolband,
Changangei, Malom and Ghari will experience a disruption in power supply during
the specified hours. MSPDCL has requested public understanding and expressed
regret for the inconvenience caused.
