Dimapur, June 2 (EMN): Administrative Officer, Litsen Kikon, EAC Zunheboto, has chiefly blamed the common practice of “proxy teachers” in the state for the poor performance of government schools in the recently declared HSLC and HSSCL results.
Kikon spoke during the first session of the two-day community mobilisation training, the fourth of the five block-level ongoing training programme, at VDB hall Zunheboto on May 31 and June 1, according to an update from DIPR. The event was organised by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, District Mission Authority, Zunheboto.
On the inaugural day, Kikon urged the participants to be very sincere in implementing government's initiative of 'Right to Education '(RTE) from the grassroots, saying that it would be very beneficial for the future generation.
Elaborating on his deep concern on the ill-effects of using “substitutes” by government school teachers in Nagaland, Kikon said the “current practice of proxy teacher is dangerously plaguing our Naga society to the extent that the future is looking quite bleak; which was reflected in the recently declared government school results in our state.”
Sekhonulu Thingo, Sr. SDEO Zunheboto, spoke on the “nobility of a teacher's job” in her keynote address. She said that teaching profession “could yield blessings if performed with utmost sincerity and dedication.”
In the second session, Elitoli Assumi spoke on SDMIS/CAL, while Inato Jakha, Assistant District Co-ordinator, highlighted the role of SMC/SMDC.
On the second day, Huqheto Chishi briefed the gathering on RTE/ RAA/ IED/ RH; Bokaho Jimo, AEO Zunheboto, on midday meal; Kahili on Shaala Sidhi/ LO; and Uketo Yepthomi, Accountant (SSA) MDAZ on TOT and accounts maintenance and auditing.
The event was attended by teachers, VEC chairmen, GBs, village council members, ZAPO members, women organisations, student bodies and others.
