  • KOHIMA — The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum have decided to continue their agitation after two days, during which they’ll wait for the government to respond to their rejection of the committee formed to review the regularisation of 147 contractual assistant professors and librarians.

  • “This is to inform all participants of the protest that we will wait for two days for the CMO to respond to our appeal regarding the rejection of the committee and our appeal for the revocation of the 17th Dec. order,” the CTAN-NNQF stated late on Monday.

  • It further added that the agitation will resume after the two-day period and the government’s response, if any.

  • “The members of CTAN and NNQF view the decision as unsatisfactory and insensitive given the ongoing protest. The members outrightly reject the decision,” the CTAN-NNQF stated in its memorandum submitted to the chief minister.

  • It maintained that the protest will continue till the government’s order is revoked, as opposed to kept in abeyance. However, the members later decided to resume the protest after two days.

  • Unsatisfied with the Cabinet decision, their initial plan was to march to the Chief Minister's Residential Complex, but that was disallowed; therefore, they submitted the memorandum instead.

  • DC Kohima B Henok Buchem also addressed the protestors and requested them to disperse for the night, which was received with a loud 'no' from the agitating members.

  • Began on April 16, the agitation entered the third day on Monday. The protestors have been demanding the immediate revocation of order No. HTE/HE/13-3/2020 (Pt-1) 104 dated 17th December 2024, which allows for the absorption of 147 assistant professors and librarians in government colleges across the state.

  • It is also demanding an immediate requisition of all assistant professor/librarian posts filled on contract after 6/6/2016.
