Promotion for artists sees art and sales for capital

With the sole purpose of promoting young artists of Nagaland and to showcase their hard work and talent in various fields, Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN) has organised a three-day event of ‘All Nagaland Art & Exhibition cum sales’ today at State Academy Hall in Kohima town.
Inaugurating today’s programme, Temjen, Associate Pastor, Ao Baptist Church, Lerie Kohima appreciating the yeomen services of the society, said this kind of platform gives an opportunity for the present generation to expose their creativity and talents, which then will give birth to further innovative ideas.
Referring to a Bible passage, Temjen said people need to work with their own hands to earn one’s livelihood and be independent. He also invoked God’s blessing.
Moanungla Kevishüsa, Associate Professor, Kohima College, who is also the advisor of the society in a short speech, said among all other societies, IWSN society is genuinely working for the welfare and uplift of the lesser privilege of the society. She said the society is working without any help and aid from any agency, except from some well-wishers and lauded the society for its yeomen services.
Fourteen young men and women showcased their arts, sketches, paintings, handicrafts, and designing which are also on sale for interested buyers.
Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN) formed in the year 2008 by some likeminded people from various walks of life, and with a belief that ‘every human being has a right for decent life’, has been working incessantly towards the welfare and uplift of the weaker section of the society by rendering charitable services and creating avenues to earn one’s livelihood.
Besides many other charitable and yeomen services, the society has conducted entrepreneurship oriented training for women and girls on pickle making with an aim to create awareness on self reliance, it has also coordinated the 6th Angels Mega Model Hunt, Nagaland on legal awareness about crime against women by financially supporting the programme and conducted training on modern designing for young girls from underprivileged families and destitute women on handicrafts like card making, tailoring on ethnic designs.
The society also has a vision to promote literature, art and culture and also preservation of traditional heritage by promoting young boys and girls of the society in music and fashion designing specially in ethnic designs, and also motivates them by organising shows and programs both within and outside the state.
It also coordinates with child care and orphanage centers with an object to assist in the development of children who are orphaned, handicapped and lesser privilege children through financial support.
In its brochure, the society stated that seeing the present trend in the society, it sensed ‘a burden, a need and a responsibility to make an impact in the society’.
