Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): The department of Horticulture in collaboration with the Nagaland Science and Technology Council (Nastec) conducted a day-long workshop of Chaman project on June 25 at the directorate of Horticulture in Kohima.
During the workshop, it stated that, the next phase of Chaman project is Wokha district for citrus plantation which will be followed by the remaining districts with focused crops. A press release from the Department of Information and Public Relations informed on Thursday.
The Northeast Space Application Centre (NESAC) Scientist Chandan Goswami was the resource person of the day. He gave an overview about the history of Chaman projects and other projects taken up in Northeast region.
Scientist Ditho Katiry of Nastec spoke about the concept of Chaman and its implementations in Nagaland. Also, Thsope Medo of Nastec spoke about the technical guidelines and methodology followed in bringing out the potential mapping for pineapple in Dimapur district, which was the Chaman project first phase in the state.
Dr. R Elithung Lotha, Mission Director of Horticulture spoke about the importance of geo-informatics in the field of horticulture and agriculture.
