Prohibitive order in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, May 9 (EMN): The Mokokchung District administration has clamped section 144 of the CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect prohibiting movement of all non-essential activities from 5 pm to 6 am.

The order restrictions will remain in force till May 17.

According to the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, there is apprehension of grave danger to human lives, health and safety concerning the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, he said, in the capacity of district magistrate there are sufficient reasons/grounds for passing prohibitive order under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1973, to ensure that there is no danger to human life, health and safety.

The order stated that any violation of this order would invite punitive action under section 188 of IPC and other relevant sections of The Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and the Disaster Management Act 2005.
