DIMAPUR — Prof. Ambrish Singh from the Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University, served as visiting professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) from June 14 to the 30th.


According to an update, during this period, he delivered lectures, conducted laboratory visits across multiple locations in China, and engaged in mutual academic exchanges.


Prof. Singh delivered lectures attended by postgraduate students and faculty members at USTB, with topics ranging from "high-temperature corrosion inhibitors" to "use of new methods in monitoring corrosion".


Complementing the classroom activities were extensive laboratory visits, collaborating with Chinese researchers to explore cutting-edge experimental techniques.


He visited laboratories in Beijing, Linfen, and Jixian County in Shanxi Province. In Beijing, he engaged with local researchers on advancements in the development of eco-friendly inhibitors. Substantial discussion also took place on the development of better batteries and consultations with industries.


During the field visit to Jixian County, known for its rich mineral resources and traditional industries, he examined potential opportunities for integrating green chemistry principles into manufacturing practices.

A key highlight of Prof. Singh’s visit was the formal mutual exchange of academic credentials. Both institutions recognised each other’s contributions to scientific research. It was stated that the visit also opened new avenues for potential joint research initiatives, funding opportunities, and academic exchanges between India and China.


Faculty members at USTB lauded Prof. Singh’s insights and dedication, emphasising the importance of international cooperation in advancing scientific frontiers.


Prof. Singh, renowned for research in corrosion, electrochemistry, and materials chemistry, was invited to USTB to strengthen bilateral academic ties and share innovative insights. He was selected among the top academicians/researchers in the field for the visiting professorship programme.


The University of Science and Technology Beijing is one of China’s top scientific universities, known for its rigorous research programmes and international collaborations in various scientific disciplines.


It may be mentioned that Prof. Singh also served as a visiting professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 1 to the 30th, 2024, where he engaged with PhD and master’s students through lectures and seminars.
