Pro-Streax Utd, Senapati FC storms into semis

Debutants of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy Pro-Streax United, Dimapur and Senapati FC, Manipur today stormed into semifinal of the ongoing NSf Martyrs Memorial Trophy held at Kohima Local Ground.In an exciting quarterfinal match played today, the visiting team Senapati FC came from behind to beat the home team Addax FC of D. Khel, Kohima Village by 2-1. Senapati FC scored the deciding goal in the extra time as teams were locked in 1-1 draw during the stipulated 90 minutes play.
The Addax FC took the lead in the 17th minute as Nighatu dribbled past the rival’s defence line to find the net.
Entering the second half, Senapatin FC found the equalizer in the 54th minute through Sülünü as a got past the keeper through a brilliant header.
The match moved into the extra time as both the teams were locked in 1-1 draw with the end of the 90 minutes stipulated time.
Eight minutes into the extra time, it was the skipper of Senapti, Koveo taking advantage of the already exhausted rival defence line to beat the custodian and take home the lead goal for a semi-final berth.
Atoska of Addax FC was also penalized with a yellow card for unsporting behavior during the extra time.
The Addax FC fought back to stay in the game, but went in vain.
Earlier, in the first match, debutants Pro-Streax United, Dimapur humiliated Nagabazar Youth Organisation (NYO) 5-0 to make it to the last four.
Pro-Streax talisman Meren, who has two hat-tricks to his credit and with eight goals, became the highest scorer of the tournament after he scored two goals today.
Meren scored the first goal in the 34th minute, while he scored the third goal for his team in the 43rd minute. With the two goals scored today, Meren became the highest scorer of the tournament with 10 goals.
Wapang struck the second goal for Pro-Streax in the 35th minute, while Zhapulhoukho and Johan netted fourth and fifth goals in 53rd and 59th minutes respectively.
The match also witnessed four yellow cards against Thezavilie Kintso of NYO and Meren, Vizobeituo and Anoto of Pro-Streax.
With the victory today, Pro-Streax United will clash against another debutant of the tournament Khulioh King from Tuensang in the second semi-final on October 12.
RMSA Nagaland Mission Director Thajao Vihienuo and Swachh Bharat Mission Ambassador of Nagaland, i/c Phek, Vizopal Chaya were the match patrons of third and fourth quarter final matches respectively.
There will be an exhibition match between Angami Students Union officials and Naga Students Federation officials on October 12 at 11 1m, meanwhile there will be an open penalty shoot-out tournament on October 11 (Sunday) beginning from 12 noon.
