Private colleges’ org. reaches out with message of quality education
Dimapur, Sep. 8 (EMN): Office bearers of the Private College Association of Nagaland (PCAN) are said to have visited three colleges on September 6 ‘on journey to connect colleges’ in Nagaland for ‘common goals.’
During interactions, heads of various colleges discussed issues concerning private colleges and their situation which included the hardships faculty members and managements undergo when running a private college without any help or support from the government, updates stated.
The team visited Tuli College, Jubilee Memorial College and Peoples College in Mokokchung district as the first phase of the programme, updates stated. The association issued a press release on Saturday to the media.
The goals the association listed were ‘quality in higher education, exchange learning programs, mutual cooperation, collaboration and solidarity.’
At Tuli, the team had a brief meeting at Tuli College.
“PCAN aims to promote quality education for sustainable and holistic development of human resources by imparting core-values and skill- based education as major stakeholders in higher education sector while contributing in different areas of higher education,” the association stated in its press release.
“PCAN came into being based on a felt need of having a common platform to all the college in Nagaland for various inter- collegiate co-curricular activities such as in sports, cultural, literary, music etc. Towards this, it may conduct regular/ annual programs.”
The association stated that its objective is to involve all stakeholders including the teachers, students, parents, society, the university and the government in improving the standards of higher education in the state.
This, according to the association, requires a flow of communication and cooperation among the university, regulatory bodies, government departments and agencies and the private colleges.
“Other aims included enhancing and promoting ethical practices, academic integrity and credibility in all aspects and process of educational delivery; promoting the credibility and integrity of all academic programs in the institutions of higher education in Nagaland and to endeavour in making Nagaland as an educational hub,” it stated.
The statement urged principals of all the colleges to join hands in the collective endeavour to improve the quality of higher education in the state.
Some of the upcoming programs of the PCAN includes inter-college sports event for private and government colleges, the updates stated.
