It was hosted by Nagaland Master Printers Association (NMPA). The main intention of the seminar was to reach out to the grassroots level, work together more closely, and help each other in times of technical difficulties, said Subhash Chander, former president of AIFMP. He felt that hilly region like Nagaland is ‘very difficult’ when it comes to obtaining raw materials and printer components. Often, tools and machineries are not readily available for replacement or repairing, thus reduce quality of printing, he added. ‘Print is suffering because there is no marketing man,’ said Chander. He urged the people to maintain at least a “marketing man” in every printing store to get more benefit from running the publication. Earlier, seminars were done only in metropolitan cities, but over the years, the federation expanded its horizon and started reaching to all corners across the country, said Chander. The federation had completed 67th years of its inspection and is an apex body of about three lakh printers in the country, with 80 affiliations in different cities and towns, he added. The seminar was conducted to acquaint workers in printing industry with basic offset maintenance, technological advancement in the printing industry, and ways of quality printing. NMPA President Mhiesizokho Linyü said that the association is in its 49th year and hoped that the programme will enhance the growth of the sector. Earlier during the programme, the Chakhesang Cultural Institute, Chetheba presented folk songs, while vice president East AIFMP, Raghabendra N Dutta Baruah highlighted the activities of the federation and inspector of taxes, Vizayie Kar spoke during the technical session.
