Principals of government colleges hold conference

Dimapur, Nov. 26 (EMN): A conference of the principals of government colleges was held in the conference hall of the Directorate of Higher Education on November 25 with the minister of Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along as the guest of honour.

An update from the Higher Education department stated that the guest of honour flagged off three buses to be distributed to Wangkhao Government College, Mon; Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma; and Directorate of Higher Education.

Addressing the conference, Along was optimistic that the bus services would help the respective recipients in their daily administrative works to a great extent.

It stated that the commissioner and secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Imjung Panger, highlighted the achievements, needs and challenges of the department in his brief address.

The first session, which was an interactive session, was chaired by the director of Higher Education Dr. Apeni Lotha, while the second session was chaired by the additional director of Higher Education, Dr. Katoni Jakhalu.

It also stated that the resource person and assistant professor of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, Dr. Mhonthung Yanthan, spoke on “Choice based credit system (CBCS) and its implementation.”

The inaugural was chaired by the director of Higher and Technical Education, while the invocation was said by the principal of Dimapur Government College, Dr. Moanochet Longchar. The conference concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the additional director of Higher Education.
