Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passes away

Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away at Windsor Castle on Friday morning. He was 99.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” read the official statement from the Royal Family.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss,” it added.
Philip returned to Windsor Castle on March 16 after spending about a month in hospital earlier this year.
He married Elizabeth on Nov. 20, 1947 and was the longest-serving consort in British history. After spending 65 years supporting the queen, he retired from public engagements in 2017.
