Diphu, June 13 (EMN): The prime suspect accused of having led a mob to lynch of two youths from Guwahati, Abhijeet Nath and Nilutpal Das has been captured. The two youths were lynched on the evening of June 8 at Panjuri Kachari gaon on claims that they were child traffickers.
Alphazoz Timung (35) was arrested on the night of June 12 from Dokmoka in Dokmoka Police Station of Assam.
On the evening of the disturbing incident which sent shockwaves across the country, the arrested Alphazoz Timung was said to have informed villagers about the presence of 'child traffickers,' which led to a mob lynching the two youths at Panjuri Kachari gaon under Dokmoka Police Station in Karbi Anglong. The youths had gone on to see Kangthilangso waterfall and were returning when they were stopped by villagers.
Police sources informed that a joint operation team of Karbi Anglong police arrested Alphazoz Timung. He was brought to Diphu Sardar Police Station for interrogation. A complaint was filed against the suspect under section-302 (attempt to murder), 202 (misinformation)and 34 (common intention). Timung is resident of Kangthilangso Narep Engti village, under Dokmoka PS.
