Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will be on her maiden visit to Nagaland after assuming office on November 2 and 3rd.

A circular from the state home commissioner on Friday informed that a civic reception will be held at Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima on November 2 at 3 pm. All the tribal unions and office bearers have been requested to attend the civic reception in their traditional shawls.

Earlier, it was also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit the state on October 28 during his tour of the Northeast and a civic reception to be held at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima, where he was to address a public rally. But the Prime Minister’s visit has been postponed to a later date.

The visit of the head of the government and the constitutional head of the country holds significance as it will happen amid public demand to expedite the Naga peace talks and seal the final solution; the upcoming state assembly elections due next year, and the growing clamour from the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) for a Frontier Nagaland state.
