POWERGRID donates a fully equipped Advanced Life Support ambulance with ventilator facilities to IMDH Mokokchung under CSR.

MOKOKCHUNG — The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) donated a fully equipped Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance with ventilator facilities to Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung on Wednesday.
The initiative was executed through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung at a total cost of INR 32.06 lakh as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
After the formal programme, NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer ceremonially flagged off the ambulance at the hospital premises. The ALS ambulance is fitted with ventilator support and other essential life-saving medical equipment.
Speaking at a brief programme held in the IMDH conference hall, Speaker Longkumer described the ambulance as a vital addition that would help bridge a major gap in emergency healthcare, especially during the critical golden hour when prompt medical intervention can save lives.
He recalled that the idea for the project originated during the COVID-19 pandemic when he was serving as the Chairman of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB). He witnessed firsthand the difficulties in transporting critically ill patients.

He expressed gratitude to POWERGRID for approving the project under its CSR programme and appreciated the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajit Kumar Verma, for successfully implementing it.
Longkumer also thanked the chief medical officer, doctors, and hospital staff, while urging the hospital authorities to maintain the ambulance properly so it remains fully operational for emergencies. He appealed to the public to use the facility responsibly.
Deputy Commissioner Verma recounted that Longkumer had already raised the need for better emergency transport when Verma joined the district and had pursued the matter with POWERGRID.
Verma acknowledged the role of the previous deputy commissioner who had initiated the project. He also expressed appreciation to POWERGRID officials at various levels for securing necessary approvals from the company’s CSR board and higher authorities in Delhi.

The DC requested the hospital to form a dedicated team for regular maintenance and servicing of the ambulance. He also appealed to the public to utilise the vehicle only for genuine medical emergencies.
Referring to the ongoing expansion of IMDH and the upcoming critical care unit, Verma hoped that more CSR-supported healthcare projects would be undertaken in the future. He noted that IMDH serves not only Mokokchung but also neighbouring districts as an important referral hospital.
Chief Manager of POWERGRID, Thapana Deori Gogoi, stated that while the company's primary focus is power transmission, it remains committed to societal development through CSR initiatives.
She expressed confidence that the ALS ambulance would provide timely critical care and help save lives by ensuring patients reach hospitals quickly during emergencies.
Ao Senden President Marsanen Imsong described the ambulance as "a great service to humanity" and "an important upgrade to healthcare services at IMDH".
Dr. Alemwabang Aier, Medical Superintendent of IMDH, stated that the ALS ambulance is specifically designed for the golden hour of emergencies, providing advanced care in rural and remote areas where access to higher medical facilities is limited.
