Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): Conveying the state government’s seriousness on the loss of revenue in energy sector due to faulty bills and squarely held the meter readers directly responsible for dereliction of duty, the joint secretary of Power department, Sarah S Jamir, has warned of strict action against non-performing staff.

Jamir, who is also the team leader of special team to check power theft, improve revenue collection, and effective management of power system in Dimapur district, stated this during interaction with meter readers on October 13.

A DIPR report stated that Jamir conducted surprise check of EE electrical office in Chümoukedima and interacted with officers and staff. She also checked the attendance of meter readers under EE electrical, Chümoukedima.

The team leader, in her interaction with meter readers, cited serving of defective bill to consumers as one of the reasons for loss of revenue in power sector.

“It is the duty of the meter readers to visit all the consumers, read the energy consumed recorded in the meter box every month and serve accurate bills to consumers,” she maintained.

Later, she interacted with EE Power, Chümoukedima, and his officers for improvement of power supply, timely repair of faulty lines and drive to check the menace of power theft and disconnection drive for non-payment of bills
