Power dept. to complete pre-paid meter installation by February

Kohima, Jan. 20 (EMN): The state level special revenue team of Power department has set a target to complete commissioning of the first phase pre-paid metering in Kohima town by February, 2022.

This was decided during a meeting led by Mohammed Ali Shihab, additional secretary of Power, on January 20 held at Kohima Electrical Division along with the executive engineer, SDO and JE of the division and implementing agency of pre-paid meters M/s Universal Power Solutions, Kohima. The meeting was held to discuss the action plans to ramp up revenue collection.

The house decided to improve revenue by way of an intensive disconnection drive of defaulting consumers including government offices and to review the action plans for revenue improvement on a weekly basis, an update from the team informed.

It also decided to strictly monitor daily attendance of staff.

For the convenience of the consumers, it decided to extend the timing for operating the cash counters up to 3 pm from the existing timing of 2 pm on all working days till March 31.

During the meeting, the executive engineer Rukongutuo Suohu informed about the improvement in the revenue collection during the month of December and January 2022 due to the initiative of the special team. He thanked everyone for the efforts and requested to continue giving more efforts in the days to come.

The additional secretary, while interacting with the officers, thanked the EE (E), Kohima, and all the officers, meter readers, bill assistants and asked everyone to expedite the revenue improvement activities in order to achieve the desired target. The team also reviewed the overall revenue improvement activities till January 15 and disconnection drive of defaulting consumers including government offices in Kohima for non-payment of bills.
