Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Power department, Dimapur Electrical division on Monday warned consumers about miscreants who are stealing energy meters and cutting off copper wires.
The department stated that a culprit posing as a lineman was caught red-handed on Monday trying to lure the consumer and extort money while trying to replace the seal of an energy meter illegally at West Yard in Dimapur.
The department stated that the culprit has been handed over to the Sub-Urban Police Station after filing an FIR.
Further, the department advised the consumers to insist on the Govt. ID card or take note that any field workers visiting their premises or equipment should be in their uniform, otherwise they should not be allowed to touch or enter the premises, and immediately report to the concerned Sub-Divisional Officers or hand over the culprit to the Police.
Department employees under Dimapur Electrical Division were also warned not to be involved in such cases. If any employees are found or caught involved in such illegal activities, severe action without further notice will be initiated, it stated.
