Dimapur, April 3 (EMN): The joint secretary of Power department and leader of the state-level special revenue team, Sara S Jamir, expressed hope that with the improvement in revenue collection, the department would be able to provide better service in the days to come, while she also attributed the achievement to the sincerity of the consumers in religiously paying the electricity bills.

Sara stated this during a meeting of the state-level special revenue team of Power department for the year ending 2021-22 held in the office of SLDC at Nagarjan, Dimapur, on April 2. She stated that Nagaland being a purchasing state, the department was unable to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers. She added that despite shortage of power supply, the department is trying to provide better service with the limited resources, a DIPR report stated.

“Power being a service sector, priority should be given to provide good service to consumers,” she said.

On the revenue collection, the team leader congratulated team Dimapur and Chümoukedima for achieving INR 102 crore jointly. She commended the Dimapur and Chümoukedima divisions for collecting more than 50% against the rest of the state revenue collection during the Financial Year 2021-22.

She encouraged the two divisions to keep up with the momentum and worked towards achieving 100% of the revenue target in coming years, keeping in mind the satisfaction of consumers.

Regarding pre-paid meters, she requested the executive engineer of Dimapur to go for extensive sensitisation of target areas and explain to them in details in layman’s term like how to recharge, necessary thing to be done after the installation and government of India notification on mandatory installation of prepaid meters so that there would be no problem in transition from postpaid to prepaid meters.

Sara further thanked the district administration, Police department and the citizens of Dimapur and Chümoukedima, without whose support the exercise would never be successful. She also expressed gratitude to the principal secretary of Power for constant monitoring of all activities of the team and encouragement.

Both the executive engineers of Chümoukedima and Dimapur thanked the special revenue team for their continued support and monitoring. They pointed out that the teams’ active involvement with revenue activities have hugely contributed towards improvement of revenue and improved power supply in the two divisions.
