Poumai community reaffirms support to Kho John in Lok Sabha election
DIMAPUR — The Poumai community on Friday unanimously reaffirmed to extend its fullest support to Kho John, Independent candidate for the -Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, in the upcoming Lok Sabha election to be held on April 19 and 26.
The decision was taken at an Emergency Assembly meeting convened by the Poumai Naga Union at Karong Ground, Senapati, and attended by all the Poumai village chairmen and secretaries, politicians, leaders of various organisations, intellectuals and well-wishers, said an update received here on Friday evening.
The house reaffirmed the resolutions passed on October 24 2023 in the PNU Assembly held at Koide Biisho, wherein the Poumai tribe pledged support to Kho John for the Lok Sabha election. The chairmen and secretaries of Poumai villages also pledged support to him during the meeting on Friday.
The leaders, who attended the Emergency Assembly, stressed the need to support Kho John, pointing out that he is the right candidate to represent the Nagas and the tribal people in the parliament, having served the society for decades and tirelessly worked for peaceful coexistence among the various communities in Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Kho John expressed gratitude for projecting him as an Independent candidate, saying that the mission is to plant a tree for the younger generation, so that they could harvest bountifully in future.
He said the decision to contest the MP election was a long cherished dream of the Poumai community. While apprising the gathering that he had reached out to every nook and corner of the state, he urged all to join hands and support him.
He also expressed confidence that he would win the Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat.
The house also resolved to appeal to all communities in the state, particular voters of the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, to support and vote for Kho John.
