Poumai Baptist Churches Dimapur organises first football tournament

Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Poumai Baptist Churches Dimapur organised its first football tournament at Greenwood School, Kuda village in Dimapur, on Wednesday.

Interestingly, only married members of the churches were eligible for participation in the competition and matches were played in three categories – men’s A group, men’s B group and women’s football.

The one-day sporting event, which also witnessed an exhibition match for children aged below 10 ahead of the main matches, saw hundreds of enthusiastic church members cheering the participants.

The Poumai Dimapur 5th Mile Church beat Poumai Dimapur Town Church to walk away with the titles in all the categories -- men’s A group, men’s B group and women’s football.

Rev. H Gideon delivered the welcome address, while Pastor L David said the invocation and Pastor Ng Mathew prayed for the event. The tournament concluded with a common meal at the school campus.
