Postal department organises financial literacy programme
WOKHA — Department of India Post held a Dak Community Development Programme (DCDP) on financial literacy-cum-awareness campaign organised by Nagaland Postal division on Friday at Longsa community hall in Wokha district.
Benjamin Debbarma, development officer of Kohima, briefed on portal products and urged them to avail the facilities by visiting the post office in Wokha, while the India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) product and services was briefed by Ankit Kumar Jha, IPPB executive, Wokha.
Short speech was delivered by Dr. Wonchano E Enny, district mission coordinator of DHEW Wokha, wherein she highlighted on Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). She informed the benefits of the scheme and educated the participants on the process and application.
R Thungbeni Ezung, vice president of Lotha Eloe Hoho, acknowledged the initiative of the department for providing doorstep facilities by providing awareness on government schemes and programmes through India Posts.
Sharon Losu, marketing executive, while delivering a vote of thanks, stressed on the importance of insurance and savings and shared how she managed through a small insurance during her initial days in service with India Post. She also urged the congregations to help themselves and their family through financial awareness.
She further reminded the participants to spread the information so as to benefit from the services provided through India Post adding that all schemes are created for the benefit of the society.
Phyantsulumo Kikon, senior associate pastor of Longsa Baptist Church, said the invocation prayer, while the welcome address was delivered by Rajani Jha, sub divisional inspector, Kohima sub division.
Later, India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) on spot registration was provided, where the participants availed the opportunity.
