‘Poshan Maah’ launched in Tuensang and Longleng

DIMAPUR — DC Tuensang Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa launched the Poshan Maah 2023 at the CBLT conference hall in Tuensang on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rutsa stated that Tuensang district is one of the first in the state to have a fully functional District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and exhorted the Anganwadi workers (AWWs) to work with sincerity and dedication, as well as to raise awareness about healthy home-cooked food and infant breastfeeding.

The DC added that Anganwadi workers play an important role in teaching pre-primary children in their Anganwadi centres and that lower-section education is the backbone of learning. She also took the Poshan pledge, according to a DIPR report.

In his welcome speech, T Longlang Luckpan, district programme officer (DPO), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Tuensang, emphasised the details of Poshan Maah, while Nungsanglemba, president of CKS, and Dr. Imti, DPO, Reproductive Child Health (RCH), Tuensang, delivered short speeches.

The AWWs of Tuensang town presented the Poshan Abhiyaan theme song during the launch.

Lakiumong, child development project officer (CDPO) (ICDS) Thonoknyu Project, presided over the event, and Antikundang, CDPO (ICDS) Sangsangnyu Project, delivered the vote of thanks.

It was attended by officials from various departments in Tuensang, SDO  Tuensang, nodal officers of DHEW Tuensang, Asha workers, and civil society organisations from Tuensang town.

The programme was organised by the department of Social Welfare, Tuensang. The month-long Poshan Maah started on September 1 and will culminate on September 30.

Longleng: The department of Social Welfare, ICDS Project Longleng, organised the Poshan Maah launching programme on Wednesday at the EBRC hall in Longleng.

The district coordinator for Poshan Abhiyaan, Longleng, said in his keynote address that during the celebration of Poshan Maah, it shall strive for a massive improvement in the nutritional and health status of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children 0–6 years old by creating awareness through various channels.

He also urged all Anganwadi workers to reach out to the beneficiaries.

CDPO Longleng, Anuno Longho, administered the Poshan pledge on the occasion.

The programme was chaired by BC Poshan Abhiyaan, Chingyang, while the vote of thanks was delivered by senior supervisor Shahnyu Phom. The launching programme was attended by all Anganwadi workers in Longleng district.
