Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) conducted a conclave on legal rights and privileges and welfare schemes for rural women of Pongidong village in Wokha district on June 25.
Panel lawyer Renbonthung Tsanglao, who spoke on NALSA (Effective implementation of poverty alleviation) Schemes 2015, highlighted on various welfare schemes of State and Central government schemes available to women, while Shanchobeni P Lotha, advocate and project assistant, spoke on legal rights and privileges in particular that could be availed under the protection from Domestic Violence Act 2005.
A vocational training was also conducted in line with Poverty Alleviation Schemes for 90 beneficiaries. Para legal volunteers (PLV) namely Daisy Tungoe and Athungbeni trained the women on how to make paper-bags, gift bags.
Legal aid desk was set-up in which PLV Meribemo Patton explained and distributed legal pamphlets in local dialect and samples paper-bags. PLV Alex Tsopoe chaired the programme and Yama Humtsoe, chairman of Pongitong village, delivered the welcome address.
