Wokha, March 10: Ponathung Kikon is one among few Naga entrepreneurs who has scripted success story through sheer hard work and dedication. He is now the proud owner of ‘Humri Bakers’ located in the heart of Wokha town catering to the needs of the town’s people.
Ponathung Kikon, a graduate from Shillong in the year 2003, underwent service management at Chandigarh before starting the local bakery in November 2012.
He began his business with subsistence assistance from the state government, and mostly funded by his family. According to Ponathung, he is not doing business for the sake of earning money but with the set priority to satisfy customers by providing quality products. He, however, expressed the struggle he had to undergo in bringing out the desired products as raw materials had to be procured from Dimapur.
Quality packaging is one challenge in which he is failing to meet the demand. Ponathung said his bakery can come at par with other bakeries in the State if standard quality packaging service is provided. In his fifth years of investment into business, he has managed to gather nine employees – out of it five are locals.
With his experience in the business, he wanted to share to the people that every success comes with hard work and dedication. He pointed out that any kind of market/business should endeavour to provide the best quality product to the consumers. Beaming with pride, Ponathung exclaimed that he has won the hearts of many customers in town using his products.
