[dropcap]N[/dropcap]aga politics is the major aspiration of Naga people and is very appealing and interesting. We need to measure up in tandem and play our peoples’ welfare at the highest level with the most beautiful and motivating language and action. Of late, Providence, in His own Sovereign will and provision, has allowed a very extraordinary and strange situation challenging everybody to do serious thinking and to rise higher together, contributing our mite for better and new things to emerge.Let us all make appropriate and friendly steps to strengthen the hands of our Nagaland State and Naga national leaders, praying and asking them to lead us forward towards a better world for all our people, wherever they are (states or countries) for all times to come. What if one day our future generation, on looking back at our history, could proclaim, “My! They have not missed the opportunity. They all rose up together to the occasion responding to their challenges, fulfilling their callings and surprising everybody outside.”
Many years ago, our ancestors, illiterate but not fools, put their heads together to make a beginning with one voice and one accord. We already have a track record of ups and downs, a chequered political career of many varieties and colours, but the goal is one. The Naga Hoho motto is “NAGAS ARE ONE”, i.e. Unity and Integration of Naga peoples and lands, parties and factions, tribal and personal colours or biases, embracing the whole Naga fraternity (Nagahood or Nagaism). “Most ailing organizations have developed a functional blindness to their own defects. They are not suffering because they cannot resolve their problems but because they cannot see their problems” – John W. Gardner (Author). It is now the time to rise and tell the world that we can put our petty differences anytime in the background and march forward together for our grand mission, inclusive of all, participated by all, accountable to all and for the sake of all.
A long time ago, seeds of Peoplehood and Nationhood were sown by ordinary peoples- farmers, traders, hunters, students, teachers, scholars, thinkers and philosophers. Today, a new delicate bud or plant is beginning to sprout. Join hands to enable it to grow. Make endeavors towards maturity of our common tree fully blooming and bearing fruits (in goodwill and harmony with all people around us as friendly and cooperative mutual neighbours and looking wider to other nations learning from them). We can galvanize our common movement and venture together into something worth doing and worth living for.
“Hope is not prognostication. It is an orientation of the spirit, an orientation of the heart” – Vaclav Havel. Let us orient or align, and live together in our time as truly oriental Asian peoples, Christians and Nagas in belief and practice.
